Spean Bridge Directions
From the South, follow signs for A82 to Fort William, then continue on the A82 to Spean Bridge. At Spean Bridge take the A86 Newtonmore direction for approx. third of a mile. Turn left at the primary school. Continue up hill, past school and chalet is in view. Take 2nd right, then left and left again.
From the A9, follow the signs for Dalwhinnie A889. Continue on A889 for approx. 9 miles. At T-Junction, turn left onto A86 to Spean Bridge. At Spean Bridge, turn right at school. Continue up hill past school and chalet is in view. Take 2nd right, then left and left again.

Spean Bridge
Set in beautiful countryside, Spean Bridge is an ideally set location for exploring the Highlands of Scotland. It has fantastic views with quiet country walks and mountain biking tracks. There are two museums and a memorial which pay tribute to the commando's who trained in this area during World War 2. There is also a woolen mill with a coffee shop, shopping and a good selection of tartans. Nearby, within walking distance, is a golf course. Fishing is also available locally.
Nine miles south on the A82, at the foot of magnificent Ben Nevis, is Fort William. It boasts good shopping with a large supermarket. There is also a leisure centre with facilities including an indoor swimming pool, climbing wall, tennis, gym and squash courts. At the Ben Nevis Distillery, you can sample the local whisky and enjoy an informative tour. There are a good selection of Restaurants and evening entertainment is also available in the summer season. A museum with local historical information, sits in the centre of the town.
Train, bus and boat trips can all be accessed from the town, whether you would like to visit Oban,Glasgow, Edinburgh, Perth or you could even take the scenic Steam Train, during the summer, to Mallaig (as seen in "Harry Potter").
For the more challenged, there is ice climbing in the "Ice Factor" at Kinlochleven (30 miles approx.), Off Road Quad Biking (6 miles approx.), Go-Karting (8 miles) and of course you could always climb Ben Nevis. A 10 minute car journey, sets you at the foot of the "Aonach Mor" gondola ride, taking you up the mountain, by cable car, to see breathtaking views and a mountain restaurant. Skiing is available during the winter months. There is also a mountain bike track which is used for the World Downhill Championship rounds, could you be the next champion?
Aviemore (1 hrs drive approx.) has a Wildlife Park, Adventure Centre, Deer Park and watersports. The Cairngorm mountain range with "Dry Ski Slope" and Funicular Railway, can also be accessed from here.
The City of Inverness has excellent shopping, cinemas, helicopter rides, museums and castles. Your spectacular journey there will take you alongside Loch Ness, if you're lucky you might spot "Nessie"!
To the west you can visit Mallaig, a small fishing village, take a boat to the Small Isles or go to the "Silver Sands" at Morar.
All these places and more can be accessed within a days trip!
